Christina Aguilera: Marriage "Didn't Change Our Relationship"

Though she's been married to Jordan Bratman for nearly five years, Christina Aguilera says not much has changed since she first began dating the music exec in 2002.

"Marriage unites you and makes you official, but it didn't change our relationship. All the things like wanting to work hard and play hard -- they were always important to us," she tells the October issue of Cosmopolitan UK. "We've been married for five years now, and I think the secret is in always keeping it interesting. You have to make time for yourselves."

So how does Aguilera let her man know she cares?

"I leave little lipstick marks on the bathroom mirror for when he wakes up, and little notes written in lipstick on the mirror and in the shower," she says. "Little notes, little cards, little 'I love yous' here and there, just to keep things fun and alive."

Still, the "Not Myself Tonight" singer admits that even the most loving marriages require effort -- and a lot of patience.

"It's important to be open to growing together, and when the going gets tough, you have to see how you can make your relationship more special and how you can spend more quality time together," Aguilera says. "Everyone has rough patches, everybody grows and we all change. It's important to give each other room to grow and to accept them for who they are."

These days, Bratman isn't the only man in Aguilera's life. Since giving birth to her son Max in 2008, the 29-year-old singer admits that motherhood has helped strengthen her relationship with her husband.

Having Max has brought us closer together," she says. "[Jordan] changed the first nappy while I was in bed recovering from my C-section -- and he's been so hands-on ever since. When I see them together it makes my heart sing and melt at the same time."

I would have preferred "Desnudate" or "Prima Donna" as a single, or a proper release of "Woohoo" though it's too late for that now. "Bionic" would be a great choice too, it outpeaked 2nd and 3rd single with no promo.

I would love "Vanity" as a single, but I can't even imagine the censored version.

I love Desnudate, but Idk if it would become a hit. Prima Donna is not my favorite, but maybe it could work.

I think Bionic would be a great 3rd single choice.

"Desnudate" could either flop or get multiformat support. It would be a good international single. I don't know what her label is thinking releasing "I Hate Boys", it's just so pointless. The release of "You Lost Me" was pretty much wasted too, she performed it on American Idol before it was even announced as a single. The performance on a finale of a huge show like that would help it out a lot even if it was sent to radio even a week before it.

"Prima Donna" is cocky and edgier than anything on the album for me and that's why I love it.

"Bionic" would be a great choice, and it would get an extra hype being the title track. I'm still wondering why it wasn't the first or at least 2nd single.

I agree. I love YLM but if they wanted to release a ballad as the 2nd single, they should had released I Am instead. I still think it would be quite successful and it would might actually work during Summer time.

Maybe it is slightly, but it still has that something, it was one of the few songs I loved on the first listen.

I Am is just brilliant. It's now one of my all-time favorite songs from Christina.

I like Prima Donna too... specially the verses. But it's a good party song, absolutely.

Impossible It's My Favorite Ballad Of Christina Too, She should had released It, but her label pick up TVW, Okay, It's amazing too, But i prefer Impossible Than TVW or Walk Away
