I can't at Lemonade not even getting nominated for R&B/Hip-Hop and Spitfire getting nominated even though it's Reggae apparently And a ****ing mess with "Gunshots" being completely snubbed, I don't know what some of y'all are even thinking...
Immediately after being signed to Written Without Warrant, girl-group G.R.L. (comprised of members Lauren Bennett, Emmalyn Estrada, Simone Battle, Paula van Oppen and Natasha Slayton) announced their new buzz single, "Free", alongside Robin Antin. The hype-developing single was announced last night, right after the announcement that they had been signed to WWW. The song premiered today on KIIS FM, and was uploaded to G.R.L.'s YouTube account almost immediately after.
The cover for the photo was described as "high-fashion bitches at the entrance to paradise" by Antin, and features the girls in expensive clothing and killer heels in a stone archway with the beginning of a large courtyard visible through a short cave-like hallway.

Release date: July 20, 2014 Genre: Electropop, pop, dance Length: 4:02 Written by: Łukasz Gottwald, Max Martin, Paige Brooklyn, Bonnie McKee, Antonella Valdez & Henry Walter Produced by: Dr. Luke · Cirkut · Ammo
"Free" was written by Łukasz Gottwald (Known professionally as Dr. Luke), Max Martin, Bonnie McKee, Antonella Valdez and Henry Walter (Cirkut), along with large contributions by actress-singer Paige Elliot (credited as Paige Brooklyn for the song). Production was handled by Dr. Luke, Cirkut and Ammo, and the song was engineered by Dr. Luke and Lauren Bennett. "Free" is an electropop song with heavy electro, house and dance elements contributed, taking inspirations from dubstep and complextro throughout its production, while definitely remaining within the genre of pop.
According to Bennett, "Free" was written as "The best song to listen to if you've just escaped a bad relationship". She continued on to say, "'Free' is totally about getting out of a bad relationship and realizing how much done it's good for you to get out of it. You don't feel broken down or bad, you feel powerful, amazing, and... well, free."
"The girls took to the song as soon as they read the lyrics," Antin stated. "They all decided they loved it and each wanted to get the most lines in it. They had to battle it out to get the individual parts, and though it would be best to have them all have equal parts, Emmalyn ended up with the most lines after the girls all made a deal for future songs on their upcoming album."
"To be honest, I'm kind of pissed, though," Slayton commented. "I only got two individual lines, one in the outro and one as background vocals... But really, it's better than nothing. I'd prefer to have more, but I'm just so happy to be a part of the song and work with everyone on it. And I know I'll get more lines in a future song."
Battle went on to mention a future video for the song: "Yeah, a video's so coming. We already started filming, but we're not done yet... I don't wanna spoil anything about it, but it's totally gonna be amazing, and the video sort of takes the title literally... But whatever! It's great!" Soon after, it was posted onto G.R.L.'s official twitter that the official video for "Free" would be directed by Anthony Mandler. It was also revealed that filming has been taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Ibiza, Spain. The video is set to release some time this week.
It was revealed that Dr. Luke would continue to produce for the group, much to their excitement. While no further songs or titles were confirmed for the group, they continued to show their excitement for "Free", with van Oppen stating: "It's the start of something huge. The album is going to blow everyone away, and we're not even half done!"
Finally, Antin confirmed the girls were preparing for their official lead single, despite "Free" just releasing today. "We have a few tracks lined up, and they've been recording like crazy. We're definitely far from done with recording the album, but Lauren and Emmalyn have been working on the official single and leading the girls to recording it, and everyone else was just jumping onto it with them. We'll have to take a second look at what we have, but we'll probably have something done by Max Martin for it, but Lauren really wants Dr. Luke back."
It's been so long since I could see
I'm finally who I'm supposed to be
I feel alive, I'm in total ecstasy
Without you, I am finally free

Full Lyrics
CHORUS: 0:07 - 0:21 [Lauren]:
It's been so long since I could see
I'm finally who I'm supposed to be [Emmalyn]:
I feel alive, I'm in total ecstasy
Without you, I am finally free
VERSE: 0:24 - 0:53 [Simone]:
Once bound to you, baby I am so free
My raging love was kept in captivity
Not for sale, there is no price for a girl like me
Strip the pain and take back what you took from me [Paula]:
Baby there's no excuse for what you did to me
Building me up to watch me fall down to my knees
You know love isn't always making one taste defeat
No need to let go once I've escaped and have liberty
BRIDGE: 0:56 - 1:13 [Emmalyn]:
All the time, I find myself asking
How did everything end up so wrong?
We were living a fairy tale life
Thought we had it all going on [Natasha]:
All going on, all going on
PRE-CHORUS: 1:14 - 1:29 [Lauren]:
I bet you want to know who I love
I bet you want to know who I'm gonna see
I bet you want to know who I love
I bet you want to know who I'm gonna see
I bet you want to know if it's you that I need
I bet you want to know if it's of you I still think
I bet you want to know who I love
But what you need to know is that baby I'm free
CHORUS: 1:30 - 2:14 [Simone & Emmalyn]:
It's been so long since I could see
I'm finally who I'm supposed to be
I feel alive, I'm in total ecstasy
Without you, I am finally free [Natasha & Paula]:
It's been so long since I could see
I'm finally who I'm supposed to be
I feel alive, I'm in total ecstasy
Without you, I am finally free [ALL]:
Without you, I am finally free
Without you, I am finally free
Without you, I am finally free
Without you, I am finally free
VERSE: 2:18 - 2:47 [Emmalyn]:
Baby I'm long gone so don't you dare try to chase me
Your begging, lying, and cheating won't be changing anything
I might come of cold, but that's all what you ever were to me
I was hurt inside by words of war that made me bleed [Lauren]:
You're a lost man, a lost soul haunted by dark entities
Tearing us both apart, I could only withstand so much to see
We were heading down a track that was meant for you, but not for me
You might've made me weak, but baby I bounced back to my feet
CHORUS: 2:50 - 3:04 [ALL]:
It's been so long since I could see
I'm finally who I'm supposed to be
I feel alive, I'm in total ecstasy
Without you, I am finally free
MIDDLE 8: 3:05 - 3:36 [Emmalyn]:
It took this long to get away
I had to go out and see the world
The pain of love helped me grow
I'm no longer that scared little girl [Simone]:
You're not there to hold me back
I'm finally who I'm supposed to be
Everything just seems so much better
Now that I'm finally free
CHORUS: 3:37 - 3:51 [ALL]:
It's been so long since I could see
I'm finally who I'm supposed to be
I feel alive, I'm in total ecstasy
Without you, I am finally free
OUTRO: 3:52 - 3:59 [Natasha]:
I'm finally who I'm supposed to be [Paula]:
Without you, I am finally free [Simone]:
I'm finally free, man [Lauren]:
Finally free
Ha 'Crossing Paths' era. But she can still end up winning Video of the Year w/ Psycho so.
Eleven top five singles, ten of those being top three in and counting. Who needs awards cause we already know her accolades looking like Justin's right now. I have no idea why hosts even let the players nominate/vote when it'll be clearly bias

Regarding the drama earlier today, especially about visuals/graphics vs. articles, I think it's naive to think that your aesthetic tactics should get you more sales than your intellectual creativity. Articles > graphics/songs/etc. at the end of the day, and it even says that articles are your main focus in the OP:
Quote:
You write articles, the articles will be on your artist performing on televised stuff, controversies, announcing new things, etc, etc. The possibility is endless. Promoting / Articles will count towards most of your promotion the week, so it's important to have these as your top priorty.
I love Luke. & his instrumentals and graphics, and I think Create a Label is a perfect way to let out your creativity when it comes to songs/graphics/etc. (that's what I use it for a lot of the time; I like creating these big eras even if they aren't successful), but if you want success, you actually need to promote more with your articles.
No tea no shade, that's just how the game is played.
Um Jax am gonna need you not to start anything. Esp when you have 4 noms, 6 including features.
If someone is undeserving they prob won't win anyways.
Girl, no. People are gonna vote against the best videos because of jealous bias and end up voting for random ones or pity votes which will result in someone undeserving winning. That's what happens a lot during award shows in CaL nn

Let's just play and have a good time. I think if you enjoy writing, write (ala Lily), and if you enjoy graphics , then...create (ala Luke.). At the end of the day, it's a fun game, and if you're not having fun, you're missing the point.
And iHype, I don't know you personally but MEHNNNNN, the way you hold your head, and keep your cool is AMAZING!!
By far, one of the best hosts ever in ATRL.
