And she kept on confusing us even more with saying things like "Dark Paradise meets MDM" or "MPG will have very radio friendly beats that American radio will like and play"... And West Coast (aka the first song we heard from the album) is no where near Jazz. So I wouldn't trust her one bit when she's describing the sound especially when she makes up words.

I associate that sound with Mermaid Motel. real sinister and murky. Lolita was similar in it's sonic qualities. ... like a rattle snake about to strike. Or you took a wrong turn somewhere and can't find your way out of the rabbit hole.

Ok I didn't really feel some type of way about this song when I first listened, but I kept thinking about the chorus at work yesterday. It's got me hooked I love it.

I really, really hope this album is all slow. I really do.
Two reasons, I can already see everybody complaining how she always sounds the same and makes the same music over and over, because it is so slow!!!11
And then of course because, I simply like ballads way more than uptempo, so I am totally egoistic here

I'm with you. I prefer slow Lana anyway, but… The jazzier her music gets, the more inaccessible, the more alienating, the less flower crowns & 15 year olds I have to see at her concerts……

I love how cinematic the song is. I hope this album is dramatic and sounds like a film score

I don't mind slow songs at all either, but not Honeymoon slow though! I mean it's like she's trying to sing very slowly in purpose. I want slow songs like the ones on Ultra.

Oh, they won't go away. I am talking of these who want Lana to serve them some bops, cause some of them only listen to her because their main faves has not written a decent ballad like, ever.
But sadly, they also want some uptempo radio material from her
Or of those whose head is always leaning more towards one side on their Instagram profile.

It's annoying when people think slow = doing the same thing.
People who failed to realize how different each song in Ultraviolence is
I mean it has a common theme and it sticks together but nothing sounds alike.

I don't mind slow at all. Songs like BTD and VG were slow on BTD, yet they he beautiful choruses with lots of words. It can be slow or fast, I love both--my qualm is her lazy songwriting. She needs to step up the chorus. Repeating a billion times "Ultraviolence" or "I'm a sad girl" or "pretty when you cry" or "honeymoon" doesn't cut it for me personally. Her verses though on UV were great. Her voice is so smooth and silky and UGH so perfect

It's not lazy songwriting at all. Her lyrics on UV were so much better than on BTD and were telling the story way better than on BTD, almost like a concept album. Repeating the same had its purpose on some songs on UV, especially on the sarcastic songs like MPG and FMWUTTT, when she is highlightning of what she gets accused of or on SG where she basically repeats the chorus as a self-fullfilling prophecy which becomes reality since she ends up being the defeated woman cause she loses against the wife on the last song, The Other Woman.

Thank you. People are so closed-minded on ATRL sometimes, even if they'd like to think otherwise.

It IS lazy songwriting, though-I'm talking specifically in the choruses. I agree, her lyrics are better (though, less original and unique) on UV over BTD, but BTD has wordy, lengthy and thoughtful choruses, whereS UV has many that aren't . You can't deny it. And I don't buy the excuses you gave for the choruses being the title repeated four times, personally

Honeymoon is so beautiful. What a way to set the tone for the album. Can't wait to see what she has in store!

The whole Lana wave has hit me once again.
I've been playing 'Honeymoon' so much since she released it, such a perfect song, such a perfect artist.
I'm actually so glad that we have someone like her these days, people outside of her fan base might not actually realize how precious she really is.
I think we're in for another brilliant era.

I still think that Honeymoon is bland. It's nowhere near the perfection that Ride/West Coast
But on its own it's so good, like a dreamy track from a noir film set on the 50s
Edit: sorry I thought this was the track thread
