Ok, first listen and I've been slayed. I'm instantly obsessed. It's so "Gwen" to me, and the production is fantastic. It really boosts the song by miles. Radio will so eat this up. Especially this time of year.
And someone mentioned previously about this song being too weak of a comeback single. My take on that is this: Gwen is Gwen. She has a very unique and diverse sound and attitude. No matter if the song isn't ground breaking and brand new, Gwen delivers because of her charisma and spark. You can't place another artist or sound next to Gwen's. This sounds like a HUGE hit, and I cannot wait to see how it performs.
I can also see the entire crowd jamming to this if she performs it on The Voice. It needs a performance like that to show how alive and amazing the song is.
On my first listen, I thought the beginning was very promising but after all the song is a big weak. It's incredibly catchy and after a few listens I love it, but I still think that the short bridge, the repetition are made for radio. Either way, I'm still buying this on iTunes!
I want the music video to be on the land with buffalo and falling in love with a fellow Native American. But I know this won't happen since of the last time.
I think what people are missing with this song is that Gwen's voice is more mono toned than in previous singles. Take "Hollaback Girl" and "The Sweet Escape" for example. Both of those songs have that signature charm and spark in Gwen's vocals. Here, that sound is kind of missing, but for me, it doesn't take anything away from her comeback. I'm addicted to this song.
