Writing about personal experience ISN'T always good or necessary.
If someone wrote a song about themselves having a hard time taking a ****, does that mean it's a great and honorable song because it's about a personal experience? Think a little Taylor stans.
Writing a whole song about a fellow colleague over something so petty is over dramatic and childish. It makes her seem obsessed with getting media headlines and appearing a victim.
You can sit here and keep acting like the public respects Taylor's songwriting about her boyfriends and **** when everyone knows that couldn't be further from the truth. Taylor is universally panned and talked **** about by the public because of her constant need to reveal her personal life about her boyfriends and feuds.
I don't hate Taylor, and in fact I own albums by her, but she is getting so self-absorbed and petty. People get their feelings hurt everyday, that doesn't mean you have to write a song about it and take it to the media. Sometimes just get the **** over it and shake it off. Something she wrote about, but isn't willing to do herself

That is capitolising on her personal life not going into the studio and writing about it after the fact.
Taylor doesn't name names, she lets other people do that so if you decide she is slamming your fave that is essentially your assumption, at least she wrote after the fact and didn't try to re work an old demo for a quick buck. I like Katy Perry, I just think that there is a lot of hypocrisy going on in here and it is pathetic.

Source where Katy claimed Part of Me related to her divorce? The ONLY reason Part of Me, Dressing Up and Work It weren't on the original album is because they needed two singles to promote the planned re-release. Bonnie McKee revealed back in July 2010 that Part of Me was to be included in a re-issue.
But of course, ignoring facts and pretending Katy got divorced to promote a song she had worked on weeks before she knew she was getting divorced is a lot more fun. Ignore those studio insiders who leaked that she was working on Part of Me before Katy and Russell had even split, they were clearly just future-telling liars.

Like, if I would get a #1 without a discount, she'd be like, "Why didn't you hit me up for a remix" And I'd be like, "Why are you so obsessed with me?" So then, for the backstage party in my dressing room at the MTV Video Music awards which was an all-girls drinking party I was like, " Taylor I can't invite you, because I think you're a lesbian." I mean I couldn't have A LESBIAN at my party, JESSIE J was gonna be there in her *sexy two piece* I mean, right? She was a LESBIAN. So then her manager called my manager and started yelling at him, it was so retarded. And then she stopped doing country because my dark horse killed her white horse, and she came back in the summer with a pop record, all including her vocals and ass remained flat, she was totally scissoring Lorde, and now I guess she's writing crap.*

I don't think you've given much thought either.
These are events and feelings accumulated over the course of a year or 2 for Taylor. She is a songwriter. She writes about things that had a significant meaning or impact in her life. Sometimes there are things that happen in your life where it stains in your memory. Sometimes people do unforgivable things that can't be permanently forgotten. You act like she's barred from writing anything period. She can't win writing songs about love because it reveals too much (ok? EVERY music artist writes about someone who have personally affected them. The only reason why Taylor receives so much criticism is because the media chooses to splash all her exes on the front page of every magazine and headlines. She's no different than anyone else you listen to). She also can't write songs about an existing tension between her and her colleague because it says too much. Exactly what do you expect a singer to do or write about? Taylor writes songs based on her own experiences. That is something really gratifying and refreshing to hear. She writes in a way that makes it relatable to anyone regardless of who the songs are written about. If you're going to critique the subject matter of her songs, give a little bit more validity to your argument.
I see nothing wrong with her writing a song about Katy Perry. We don't even know the full lyrics yet. This song could be written in a way that talks about false appearances, such as someone who appears to be your friend but fooled you and tries to sabotage your life. Obviously she took this one or many incidents to turn it into a theme for a song. Don't tell me you've never been fooled by someone.
Every artist is self-absorbed to some extent. They spend hours obsessing and recording a song they're intentionally wanting people to hear based on their experiences. Every artist tries to steal the torch to show people why their voices matter more than others. So I don't get why Taylor receives the most backlash for doing nothing different.
You say she contradicts herself for writing a song about shaking things off but doesn't do what she preaches. Um, so you want her to be a 1 dimensional robot with no complex emotions? Happiness is fleeting in real life. Sometimes when you try to shake something off, something else comes along to ruin your day. I honestly appreciate the diversity of her songs because there is always a song for everyone off her record. That's the point of writing an album. It shows how human she is -- that she too can still be vulnerable despite shaking off haters one day and still fall down the next day.

Pablo Neruda wrote a bunch of poems about how a woman left him. So petty and over dramatic, Shake it off Pablo.
Everybody has a bedroom. Why is Vincent Van Gogh painting a bedroom?, just because you have a bedroom doesn't mean you have to paint a bedroom.

This is how you EDUCATE
I just can't at the katy stans saying is embarrassing for her to write a song on this issue when almost every popstar does the same
I mean look wide Awake, roar, dark horse, part of me and tons of other songs in her discography. I'm pretty sure Katy wrote them (I'm assuming she did, idk).basing on her life experiences as well.
I'm glad Taylor isn't doing the regular, tired love songs this time

Oh come on Have a little bit of common sense. We haven't even heard the song yet, and we don't know the details of the situation.
And yes, people do respect Taylor's songwriting....it's absolutely ridiculous to say its "universally panned" when....
she's won 7 Grammys, including Album of the Year. She's won 14 BMI awards. She's won 6 NSAI Awards. She's also won 2 Songwriter's Hall of Fame awards.
The NY Times has described her as "one of pop's finest songwriters, country's foremost pragmatist and more in touch with her inner life than most adults."
Rolling Stone has called her "a songwriting savant with an intuitive gift for verse-chorus-bridge architecture" with lyrics that are "squirmingly intimate and true".
Slate has said that she has "effortless, preternatural mastery of pop conventions: Very few songwriters can build better bridges than she does."
American Songwriter has called her "a great songwriter, who writes with an unmatched and almost unnatural acuity ... Even her earliest material is characterized by thoughtful – perhaps meticulous – word choice and deliberate melodic construction, with nary a lazy rhyme or aimless tune to be found."
She wrote her entire 3rd album by herself, and Rolling Stone called her "one of the best songwriters in "pop, rock or country"".
I really don't understand why you guys are bashing her for writing songs about things she goes through, like goodness gracious its her life she can do what she wants to do to get aggression out and it clearly works for her since its gotten her so much acclaim

Katy stans acting brand new that artists use personal experience to create their art. Also it was right there in the RS article that there was much more besides the dancers incident why the song was written.
Its pretty common knowledge that Katy is a bitch. About time she gets exposed.
