I love it and - knowing my taste - it will end to be my fave off ARTPOP, but it's not single material.
Plus, Gypsy will be the 3rd single, so deal with it.

No1curr especially when your stanning for DWYW.
Basic pop lovers, still trying it with Venus. They better stop it,especially when we are about to blast off to a new dimension that will eclipse DWYW

But y'all don't understand that this doesn't work that way. APPLAUSE was the best choice for first single even though some of y'all may say she flopped or underperformed. It did great, and the reason she needed it as the first single and it performed that way was because Gaga was absent from the GP for 2 years (at least musically). She needed not a song that would make her blow up the charts (she had alienated people with the BTW music even if that was not the intention) but a song that would attract attention back to her. All the glory could be save for later, but what she truly needed is to say was : "hey, I'm here and I'm coming hard". That was what APPLAUSE did, and I'm proud to say that even people who didn't like her before felt a buzz when they heard it. I think DWUW is also the best 2nd single choice. She's not going to smash right after APPLAUSE, NEVER. But with DWUW she can expand her music (ARTPOP's music) to a greater audience with R. Kelly's help instead of just releasing VENUS right after APPLAUSE and just indulging us little monsters. VENUS could be the third single for all we know, but we haven't heard the whole album. And right now, I'm satisfied with everything she's released and how she's handled her era.
Some of y'all need to take out your stan glasses and review this era objectively and with logic. I'm sure you can do it. You are the fans, she's the artist. It's her music, not yours. After she acts, you decide if you stay or not.

One of them, yes. I only said Gypsy because according to the "reviews" is the better song and almost the best from the album.

DWUW would have been a better choice than Applause. Applause, while catchy, was no doubt supposed to her huge comeback single. There was all intentions that Applause would smash left and right. DWUW would have been the perfect song for her to connect with an audience in 2013 while returning from her absence.
Gaga was able to break in back in '08 because she was released a catchy lead single alongside Akon and Colby. Imagine if she had released Paparazzi as the lead. Great song, but no! Same with Applause. DWUW would have done a better job at bringing Gaga back.
Oh well, it is what it is. I enjoy the music, that is most important, but it is interesting to discuss these things.

But you have to understand that Gaga isn't a "It Girl" anymore. She ain't a new artist so she can't resort to that stuff. Specially when she's got a big ego when it comes to her music. I still believe DWUW wouldn't have done that, because it's so different from her repertoire that for a first single people would be confused. I guess we think this way since after APPLAUSE when we heard DWUW it sounded so great.. But imagine having no knowledge of any ARTPOP song and hearing DWUW. I would have been scared! I don't know. And I'm saying that because I'm so tired to read in all these threads the fans whining. They've been whining since the BTW, when will they stop?

I love Applause, though it wasn't the EDM smash I was expecting. Something like DWUW would have been unpredictable, which is what made Gaga so interesting. I just think it is all wrong. On the bright side, Applause is her best video since Bad Romance. So it isn't a total loss. And just because Gaga isn't the it girl doesn't mean she has to stop trying. I can't tell if she wants to be remembered anymore or not. Her drive is what made her stand out and I believe this same drive can carry ARTPOP to a new level if she wanted it to!

I am the only one who thinks she should have written/ FEATURED on at least 1-2 songs for other artists during her absence? I mean.. She loves basic pop music, she said that before many times. So, it wouldn't be bad for her to feature a chorus like LTWYL
