Just finished it.
Welp. I'm not slayed. I'm just sitting here like this:

Don't really know how to feel about it. I think I get the general storyline, but can someone either explain to me in more detail about what this was about or just copy/paste one?

She gets dropped from Def Jam/gets put in a hospital on the same day. Later she leaves the hospital and starts to rebuild her life to become Lady GaGa.

Is that it?

Thanks; does anyone have a slightly more detailed explanation?

I just watched it a second time lol. The opening scene really is executed well; the dialogue, setting, fashion, the air of mystery it has. It's crazy because the best part of the video is when the music's not even playing. And while the plot can be perceived as self indulgent, It came across as very honest and genuine to me. It even had me trying to decipher it all, as usual .
The dancing scene isn't as depressing the second time around, but it's still very flat, and far too long. Video would have been infinately better if it were reduced in length...
So this video is about her state of mind (maybe more) after being released from Def Jam, subsequently hitting rock bottom, and then deciding to "marry the night", eventually landing the interscope deal, no? It really is a beautiful amd inspirational storyline.

But Mariah Carey has/had the best voice in the universe, so I don't really pay attention to her lyrics (which are a mess )

For the same reason say Steve Jobs gave his commencement speech at Stanford: to inspire others. The only self-indulged person right now is that BITCH Nicole.

Steve Jobs was a millonaire, that doesn't inspire me at all, people should stop making him look like a hero, in fact he considered himself a hero because he wanted to "inspire people" with his "story"

Wow! I actually enjoyed this! It's not something I'd watch over and over again (obviously) but it was a nice video. And it was one of the first by her I fully understood at first watch.

Lady Gaga gets the call from Def Jam that they will not be using her any longer, causing her to take some drugs (morphine) - in an apparent attempt to end of her life. She doesn't give up on her life and goes to audition for Interscope. She slays the audition, gets signed to Interscope, and becomes Lady Gaga - warrior queen

Just got done watching the video, was in class when it debut. I liked it more on the 2nd watch, but unfortunately I don't fully understand the video. I know it's about her getting dropped from Def jam and all but I'm still trying to put everything together for the whole video to make sense.

Hey, at least it's not a depressing music video where you KNOW there's good at the end. Haha.
I liked the video! I don't know if it's topped BR for me or not yet... the prelude is so epic though. My complaints for it is that she used the dancing part too long and made the ending scenes that we hadn't seen before go by too quickly so it was had to really pay attention at the end. I also personally wish that she had saved the cars first blowing up for "COME ON AND RUUUUUUN" instead of a boring dance. But I guess that last part's more personal for me.
The video at least generally met my expectations and I did quite like it! I still need to see it again, though; I've only seen it once.

That makes sense. I hope she's exaggerating the "truth" again like she usually does, I hope she never attempted suicide but sadly that seems like the case. She was clearly drugged out in the apartment scene but I didn't view that as a suicide attempt. We all know Gaga use to abuse heavy drugs so I thought she was just showing us that side from her from what she did in the past.

What does him not inspiring you personally have to do with him inspiring the next person to become whatever they want to become? Stop it.

Oh okay! That makes sense, I got that it had something to do with Def Jam, but I was just confused on the hospital stuff mostly, and really all those scenes in general.
That sounds really nice, I can see why people would find that inspirational. I'm going to watch it again tomorrow when it's not so late and I'm not so tired.
BTW, the only part I still don't understand — what was the bedazzler scene? From your explanation, it sounds like she auditioned for Def Jam before the video and auditioned for Interscope after the video. So what was the Bedazzler scene?
Oh, and another question: did she get the call in the video or is that assumed or whatever?

What I took that scene to be was Gaga arriving to Interscope HQ. Before the video, Gaga was already signed to Def Jam. She's living the life as a struggling artist (hence why her bed is on the floor) trying to make it, but the scene where she is nude and gets the call (in French) is when she gets dropped. She tells Luc to hush, it's her director, and then they say 'what do you mean dropped?' 'I'm an artist.' Then she starts shooting up (morphine I mean) and gets as sweaty and sticky with cheerios as what I am going to assume to be the moment before she was admitted to the psych ward.

I am confused at what video you watched, lol.
To me when she's in her apartment, it's after she got home from the clinic.
At that wasn't Luc, it was supposed to be her best friend Bo.

Disappointing to say the least, but I'm gonna blame it more on the editing.
And in no shape or form she topped Bad Romance.

Meh, I don't have the answers. I just didn't see the point of her being at the clinic for no reason, then getting released, and then getting drugged up. ? But you could be right.
