Really impressive view numbers so far. Hope it doesn't stall randomly like Born This Way.

Getting radio airplay and broke the top 20 on iTunes.
Not even released as a single yet.

This video was overhyped, overproduced, and just a MESS.

You are trying hard with your two posts, sis. My favorite insult of anything Gaga is "overhyped."

When I first heard the concept for this video, I had high expectations for it. I also thought it would be really appealing having an alter ego in the video as well... However, after watching the video, I can say that I am (unfortunately) disappointed. I feel as though there was a little bit too much crammed into one video--first she's walking along with some bad lip liner, and then she's in a field playing the piano with her male alter ego, then some guy is giving her chemicals (or something), then they are dancing in a barn, then she's a mermaid, then they are having sex...
It just really makes no sense.
Don't get me wrong though: the video is, without a doubt, visually appealing (and the song is great), I just think that her recent video concepts are random, at best. Born This Way was a little more coherent (concept wise) and Edge of Glory was frankly just a mess (what was it even about?). I'd really like to see her return to videos more like Bad Romance when there was a coherent story that she was telling throughout the video (actually, all of the pre-BTW videos had great story).
This is just my opinion though -- I don't think it's a terrible video, etc. I just don't think it's her best.

I feel like the story in this video is quite clear. Even if it wasn't, the few things she's said about the video sort of solve that problem.

So, what is the story then? Because I (unfortunately) don't see much of a story...

This. And even her explanation confused me more. "Its some things in love....you just cant do..." Yadda Yadda ****. Someone needs to tell gaga less is more and go back to what she's best at, making simple fun, interesting videos, instead of mini movies full of cluttered ideas with no sense of direction, that have to be explained, but even when they are explained, they still leave little to be desired...

The timeline of the video is like this: (colours relate to Gaga's hair colour in each scene)
Brown -> Teal -> Black/Blonde*
>-------- Blonde* & Calderone ---->
Gaga strapped to the table -> Drugged / Fixing -> Drowned / Sex -> Bathing ->
[she leaves him] -> Calderone -> returning
Everything highlighted in brown is reality.
Everything highlighted in teal is fantasy.
Everything highlighted in yellow is emotional.
Black represents herself. As does the above yellow.

I basically needed a white canvas to work this out myself, but I'll post anyway

You don't understand the storyline --> Doesnt mean it doesnt have one.
And I like the fact that we need to think to realise it because ---> It makes the video have more views.

While I do not deny that there is a storyline, I assert that it seems as though this storyline comes across as less coherent than Lady Gaga's past videos. However, I invite you to explain to me what the story is exactly though behind this video, as I am legitimately curious.
