It's really not hard.
I know from your comments though that it's going to be hard to convince you that she has iconic videos and how they are indeed popular and well liked, or how they sparked trends and influenced others, so let's just go with the visual album here. The definition of Vanguard is, "people who are the leaders of an action or movement in society, politics, art, etc."
The visual album is now associated with Beyonce. Anyone who does a visual album in the next while will undoubtedly be compared to her. That supports the definition of vanguard. The award is to recognize people who have done big things with music videos, and here we have someone who simultaneously released 17 music videos in the same day. That's huge, and more impressive than anything Britney has ever done in music videos, even if her schoolgirl look is iconic and she wore a bedazzled nude bodysuit.

"This award has gone to Michael Jackson, Madonna, and more. Can you honestly think of anyone more deserving? Of course not." - MTV on Bey
I'll just leave that in there.

I never thought of Britney's videos being iconic. I first read about her videos being iconic this morning on this website. She has iconic songs not iconic videos (except 1)
Why can't you move on? TITAN getting her Vanguard won't take Brit's award away.

Are they maaaad at the fact that Deadney is losing her relevance and youth at a faster rate than African rape victims lose their virginity everyday?
Are they mad at the fact that the World's richest, powerful, wealthy, influential BeyGOD is still beautiful, talented, respected, capable of performing and showing her talents to the whole world on Super Bowls, Glastonburys, huge worldwide and stadium tours, and award shows? Can have Platinum singles, albums, Top 10 solo hits and huge tours? All that while Deadney is stuck in a small, local, Planet Hollywood casino, lip syncing her embarrassing, forgotten, old hits to a few nostalgic, middle aged gays and teen girls? And her latest album couldn't even scrap gold?
Are they mad at the fact that nobody (but few teen girls and middle aged gays, who every once in a while hit YouTube to remember old teen fads) gives a **** about that talentless, voiceless, immobile, washed-up, 47yo soccer mom looking piece of white trash and laughing stock of their fave?
Are they mad at the fact that when normal people think of her today (and they don't) they think of a *****, lip syncing joke who shaved her head, was taken to a mental hospital tied on stretchers and had her kids taken away from her?
And since they love making fun of tributes, Deadney's latest tribute (which ended up being BeyGOD tribute remember????) looked like this.
BeyGOD latest tribute looked like this.
Now I'm gonna a have a nice summer day in 2014. Those 3 Deadney stans will have a nice day in their special world, where Bill Clinton is still a president, where TRL is still in its early run and where Baywatch and Pamela Anderson are the biggest TV stars in the world.

I can't at all the fuss about Britney's name not being bold, it's not like the OP removed her name. It was probably an honest mistake on his part.

When your most iconic songs were released more than a decade ago and you haven't been able to top yourself, there's really nothing to brag about. The Video Vanguard Award transcends videos, and Beyoncé does have iconic videos as a prerequisite to receive the award.
Let's not even get into how I feel it should be Britney's team that was honored more than Britney herself. The past recipients of the award actually were directly involved in their careers to justify their wins.

How can anyone even argue about Single Ladies video? that thing was a phenomenon and people all over the WORLD copied the outfit and dance. When was the last time this happened? during a Michael Jackson video.
Stop the denial and come up with FACTS.

Plus the single was not even a WW release. It did it's thing based on the strength of the video itself.

That doesn't mean the artist shouldn't be awarded for what they did and how they impacted pop cultural, the artist did that, that's the point.
and Britney is heavily involved in her music video's concepts and ideas, in fact the original BOMT video was going to be a cartoon until Britney argued that she wanted her video to reflect the lives of her fans and wanted to set the video in a school with the outfits and the dance scenes. BOMT ended up being one of the most iconic music videos in pop history, and that's just a part of how Britney is involved in her music videos.

Let me continue with the facts:
- The term ''Put a ring on it'' that is now used by everyone, anywhere in the world, came from where? a Beyonce song.
- The tern ''bootylicious'' was made popular by whom? where? Beyonce's former group Destiny's child and this video was iconic too at the time.
-Recently, ''I woke up like this'' a catch phrase that people all over are using, including celebrities and world leaders, came from where? Beyonce.
I would continue but i gotta let y'all process.
