PHOENIX, Jan 31, 2008 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- During the Super Bowl XLII press conference and with the backdrop of Phoenix, Arizona behind her, nine-time Grammy award winner Alicia Keys announced today the Alicia Keys As I Am Tour presented by Lexus. The tour, which is one of the most highly anticipated tours of the year, will build upon the unparalleled success of Keys' latest album, As I Am, and continue her reign as one of the most prolific performers and songwriters of this generation.
The buzz for the U.S. tour started when Keys recently announced her European tour, which begins on February 25th and makes visits to cities including Glasgow, Copenhagen, Zurich, Paris and Milan. The U.S. and Canadian portion of the Alicia Keys As I Am Tour presented by Lexus kicks off on April 19th in Hampton, VA. Iconic designer Giorgio Armani has added his creative style to the Alicia Keys As I Am tour by designing a custom wardrobe for his friend, the multi-talented songwriter, performer and producer comprising three key looks inspired by both the Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani collections.
Enjoying one of the most phenomenally successful years of her career as a performer, producer and songwriter, Keys, who has won nine Grammys and has sold over 40 million albums and singles worldwide, is one of the most celebrated recording artists in the world. Her new album, As I Am, continues its success this week claiming the #1 spot on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart selling over 2.7 million since its November 13th, 2007 release, when it debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts with sales of over 740,000 albums. Always a Grammy favorite, Keys recently received two nominations for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song for "No One."
