She took a risk(which I applaud) but that kind of song is at ODDS with Rihanna. People don't like when she gets to introspective, or deep because they feel its not authentic for her. It's unfortunate people want to keep her in this kind of box with her music but that kind of song would've taken off more with Taylor or even Katy Perry singing it.

I've seen too much people saying that AO2 won't make it into the album since RIR
Lemme just add that if "Wait You Turn" made it into "Rated R", AO2 will make it too, Rihanna never excluded a single from any of her albums, she's not gonna start now

I've always respected Rih's artistic integrity in the past, and the latests interview makes me think that her artistic integrity is stronger than ever and she will put AO2 in the album whether y'all like it or not, she doesn't give a **** if it flopped abysmally, like she said in the NME interview she did it for her above all

And why would she sing the song to a South American crowd?

No one is keeping her in any box. The same people who listened to Diamonds and Stay would have latched onto it under different circumstances. The problem with that song isn't that it is too introspective. As a matter of fact I'm willing to bet the only reason most people gave it a chance is because of the subject matter. The problem is that the song just isn't very good. The production is noisy and hollow. The structure is all over the place -- and not in a manner that could be called "innovative" either. The song builds up to nothing and overall sounds like an unfinished demo.

I really don't think the song is that bad. But I can understand why most of you don't like it. I didn't mean that AO was specifically introspective I was more so talking about Rated R, What Now, CKB, she does have ballads that do well(Stay) but it's a trend I've seen with Rihanna over the years. I do think you had some valid points though.
