I don't think we should be too disappointed about this, I mean, at the end of the day both singles were a risk - and we knew that.
In reality DJ is a mess for allowing the fans to choose a single this early on for such a high profile album... and then in fact choosing 2 of them to dual release. It seems mad to be honest, especially having been through the RS101 period. But hey, at least the Navy got what we wanted.
They must know Cheers was the safest bet because wasn't that originally planned as the lead single? Idk, we should just be thankful the first 3 singles smashed. 3#1s is very good work and the album sales are impressive. Even without a re-release Cheers would probably push Loud to near the 2x platinum mark.

On the Loud DVD Rihanna says that she wants "What's My Name?" to be the first single, and Def/Death Jam chose Only Girl (thank goodness, so much better than WMN?) except I have NO idea how "Cheers" started circulating the media of being the lead single... it just all of a sudden did. Haha.

I remember when I heard parts of WMN? - there were many videos of Rihanna shooting the video, and the song sounded very different. In my mind it was way better than it turned out to be.
