imo britney is much more of a pop culture icon than a music one, and that's been true since at least 2006.
like, is britney not the popstar archetype? the blonde, dancing, non-singing girl in a catsuit? that image is extremely popularized.
not to mention her meltdown. she's used as a pop culture reference if nothing else. but her actual career highlights are completely forgotten. poor britney
at least she's not completely forgotten like xtina, fad, etc.
