The fact that I KNOW PLACES is between 2 very powerful ballads THIS LOVE and CLEAN (AKA my top 2 favorites on 1989) makes me thinking: Maybe that's the purpose? You guys know I love the structure of 1989 very much.
As a whole album, 1989 is perfect, including my least favorites (Ryan Tedder collaborations) on 1989 (which are still awesome).
