Not totally off.
I hated it on the first day, I remember, and thought radio would not play it. By day 3 I loved it and could see the appeal.
He gave it wonderful promo, which was integral to the song's success.

I really hope for The Show Goes On type success but honestly I'd be happy with a Top 50 peak and good longevity.
