Edge was/is pretty huge in the UK. I read somewhere that the UK release of Y&I is September 19th, if that's true there's still practically a whole month to go before its out over here. Post VMAs it should rise quite a lot anyway.

That explains the whirlwind push in Asia, and hell, she even had that one magazine interview in UAE. Her promotional schedule will be spread more thin across more countries, and that does mean some areas will be taking a hit chart wise while she's flying around. She was out of the US from mid-May through most of July.
She still needs to shore up herself here after all of the time abroad, because You and I is just beginning to launch on the radio.
She is bound to return to Europe eventually, she's huge there as people have pointed out. Luckily when she left, Edge of Glory was a hit on Euro radio so that'll buy time until shes back.

She's smart to hit Asia because the people Asian countries are notorious for actually going out and buying albums instead of illegally downloading them.

But seeing how the album is doing not so good over there, I don't see the problem in her focusing a little bit more in the UK. Sure, she shouldn't need to come to the UK whenever she releases a new single, but if that's what it takes this era, then be it. As long as it's profitable, her label will probably book an appearance. After all, the UK is Gaga's 3rd biggest market.

Wait, what? Hasn't the album sold over 500k? That's great, isn't it?
I mean 1,700,000 in the US (population 300,000,000) and 500k in the UK (population 60,000,000).

Well, I don't think you can really compare it like that.
My comparison was regarding last era where "The Fame(Monster)" sold around 2.7 million.
Plus, it's not only the total, but it seems to be lacking longevity seeing how it's already selling under 10k a week.

527,110 in the UK so far. Which is a great total, to be honest. The only worrying statistic is that recent weekly sales have been 9.1k and 7.2k. She needs something to boost sales and help the album to continue to sell. That's what I want her to use Jonathan Ross and the XF for

Well that's because there's currently no single impacting to keep it afloat. Hopefully whenb Yoü and I rises, it'll climb more. It was actually #85 this time last week and it's now in the top 40 on iTunes for various reasons, so it's definitely selling better there right now.

Then again, music has been down considerably in the UK.

TFM era had a tour to help it. When the BTW Ball starts, sales will stabilize. I really don't think any of us have anything to worry about. She'll pull in close to 6,000,000 WW by the end of the year and BTW will be the second-highest selling album. It's doing great.

X Factor makes for major promo here in the UK. Britney's I Wanna Go actually jumped to #149 on ITunes because they played a 10 second clip of it on X Factor. And I Wanna Go completely bombed here.

It seems to me that the novelty factor somehow wore off in the UK. If you look at other markets such as: Australia, Canada and most Asian countries, the album is holding up much better and it's multi-platinum in most of them. And they have less promotion and the same singles as the UK.
The album is not doing bad by any means but I was hoping for better this era. Hope she can turn it around.

I think part of it is that she's not as new anymore. A lot of markets are flipping from "NEW GAGA" to "another US artist" mode as she chugs along.

I think it's because Interscope put up banners today for You and I on AllAccess for radio programmers to see.
It's meant to hype tomorrow's release, but I'm sure some want to be listed as an "early believer" if it becomes a hit.
