Ye, Charli, Icki, Ariados and Taylow being all hype for mainstream pop. Not that they make objectively speaking
good music, but it's pretty exciting nonetheless after a dull start of the year. I just scanned through Pitchfork's new top list as well which was the pits of course. They're really not making sense anymore. Some of the songs have aged so badly and are lacking in basically everything what makes a pop song work
They try to shed their hipster roots so hard for whatever ****ing reason ($$$
) to become the most accessible yet critical go-to place on the web. It works though, cause I've seen the site being mentioned more and more on ATRL than two years ago when I joined. Not sure how it's going to work out in the end, because by doing this they're losing credibility which was THE reason why they started in the first place.
