It's totally understandable that you and other fans are skeptical. This is such a huge move on Gaga's part, and if she succeeds, it's going to change things.

Well, that is your opinion. I just didn't like anything on the album besides Judas, Bloody Mary and Heavy Metal Lover. I just feel that she takes herself way too seriously and what made The Fame and The Fame Monster so great was that they both had great easy to listen to dance songs on them. Everything on BTW *to me* sounds so heavy and full of religious and or political messages when it really isn't needed or necessary.
|
The problem lies within you, not the music. You want dumb, generic pop music, and that's not what Gaga gave us, thus why you're disappointed. BTW is a mixture between TF and TFM, and yet you're going to say it's a bad album? LOL

Paparazzi and TFM are not dumb, generic pop music.

I didn't say that I want "dumb" music. I just want good music with a message. And it is my opinion. I actually like her first two albums so don't come at me and begin trying to dissect and discredit my musical taste.

Dancing On My Own, Cry When You Get Older, Hang With Me (acoustic), Indestructible, Criminal Intent, Time Machine, Stars 4Ever, Get Myself Together. Absolutely perfect, artistic pop. I can't at this shade.

It may be, but it fails in being catchy or memorable, imho. Not trying to shade.

It is. It tried not to be but the fact that a stutter makes up 80% of the song says enough

Oh no, I didn't mean that. Ugh, I don't know how to explain it. Like, people wanted Gaga to conform to the sounds of today, but she didn't, so people (mainly non fans) are/were disappointed. Though I love TFM, I feel like it was her still trying to conform to what she made popular, whereas with BTW, she threw everything away and tried something new. I hope that makes sense.

And BTW gave you that.
I'm not trying to discredit you, rather point out your illogical inconsistencies.

Gurl, don't even try to reason with people. BT is free of flaws and people will have to deal.

Anyway, I don't think it's very accurate to say that her fans, by and large, have been disappointed by the album itself, but it's pretty obvious many of her casual fans / the general public have not been as enthralled by her singles this era as compared to the ones from TF/TFM, and singles are the only exposure an album will have to the vast majority of people.

It's not generic or dumb but it still has a lot of mass-appeal and that's what makes it so epic.
Some of the lyrics are pretty genius, imo.

I think You and I will do fine. I'm surprised it hasnt dropped much further on iTunes following the video hype, tbqh.
Radio is just catching on. Sure the spin increases have been big, but it takes time before its big enough to create sustainable digital sales.

Well, technically it is generic dance music, but since dance music wasn't popular at the time, it changed things because it was different.

I need your help. Do any of you have the Gaga quote that's like, "Love what you create, and die protecting it"? I need it for an art project due tomorrow... Thanks.

That's why Gaga hasn't released MTN yet . She's going to close the era with that song imo .

First of all just because I don't like BTW (as a whole) doesn't make me illogical. I don't need a record full of songs named Highway Unicorn (Road To Love) to know that someone supports Gay Rights. Sometimes you can make a record that has a message while still giving people who just want to listen to fun dance music something as well.
