It's just as impossible as picking the best English songs. You're always gonna pick from a very small selection of everything that's out there.
It's not that big of an effort to represent all of the world's music. You just have to open your mind to it. But I guess Pitchfork is comfortable in their small bubble.
They did a top 20 essential k-pop songs list like a week ago. You can't expect them to include many non-English songs in their best of lists because they're not regularly exposed to them. I doubt many non-English speaking artists send pitchfork their albums to be reviewed anyway...
Twigs has some good songs but i don't like what i've heard from LP1. Her EP is better. Banks is miles better. She doesn't associate artistry with making tuneless music at least that being said papi pacify is my song.
