This show is becoming irrelevant as far as success goes... When was the last time that an Idol contestant had some MAJOR success...? All of the names that come to mind when talking about success are Kelly, Jordin, Carrie, & David. It's sad because it's my favorite show... *continues meltdown*
Also, every female idol has had at least moderate success. All of the WGWG winners are nowhere in sight these days.
Well, a female hasn't won since season 6, back when Idol had twice the viewership. The males who won at that time were having just as much success. I don't think Jessica's vagina would've guaranteed her anything. I can't see either her or Phillip doing much commercially, but we'll see...
Look, as great and important as having a Kelly Clarkson-esque voice is, it's not the only thing that makes a musician anymore. Some musicians have weird as **** vocals, but they make up for it with their art.
I'm not undermining the importance of vocal talents (God knows I don't want another Katy ****ing Perry in the industry), but that's only about 70% of being a musician.
I mean I watched like 25% of this season. I really could care less who won and who lost, I was mad that Skylar got eliminated, she was my fav. Usually my favs always win or become runner-up's except Skylar so you can tell that was a ****** a season. Haha just kidding, the logic was off. But yeah there will be more seasons but it's just going down hill and fast.
Television is oversaturated with singing competitions. The Voice is currently the success story of the year because at least it offers a slightly different viewing experience. X Factor is hardly different than American Idol, & American Idol is the trendsetter, but it's no longer the show it was once due to the changes it has gone through. And they're starting even more with this Duets show. I don't even know. The importance of winning has also decreased due to the oversaturation.
Maybe it's because I'm older, but they make everything too dramatic on these shows.
Jessica will be successful. She has all the tools too be.
Sure she might have the tools to be, but it doesn't mean she will be. I'm gonna wait for her record. I know she's young but I want to know if she can do something interesting and original. All I saw for most of the season was a mini-Beyoncé. I want to know if she can be Jessica.

American Idol really brought it back but since it started going downhill is when we started seeing everything else try to take its place. None are doing anything justice though. It's a great way of bringing new talent to the forefront, but most of the time it's starting to become who is the most appealing to Hollywood standards. It's like where is the singing talent and stage presence, your looks can only get you so far.
