As for the ballad in the video. Well, along with "IIWAB," I think this is the first time I've thought her voice was truly beautiful. She has always had a lot of power but it hasn't been ear-pleasing along the lines of Sarah McLachlan or Linda Ronstadt. But now I think Beyonce is on her way to achieving that type of beauty. Very impressive.

Not just the fact that it sounds like "Get Me Bodied," but it's very bland and sounds like a B'Day B'Side. It's like two different people made the two first singles, that's how much better "If I Were a Boy" is.
That's exactly what it is. No melody at all. Even "Womanizer," which also uses a fairly repetitive beat, has a melody in the chorus.
