I like both, but Vanessa deserves more from her label. Hollywoodrecords does like to trash its artists.
A lot of Vanessa's sales came from her promotion on the Disney Channel and the success of "Come Back to Me" on radio. It peaked at #18 on mediabase but I think the official update said it only peaked at #20.
The success of "Come Back to Me" in the US also helped the song a lot overseas.
Here are some of it's peaks in overseas countries. Keep in mind that she didn't visit any of these countries for her album promotion. She went to Australia for HSM promotion (she did no album promotion) and she did some promotion in Japan (can't remember if she went there though). Usually songs that do well on US radio do well overseas.

France - #12 (someone said it went to #6 but all the latest charts I can find said it only went to #12)

I think Ashley's album would have sold better in the US and would be certified/sold Gold by now if they would have pushed a single on radio and shot a music video for it. Her album came out in February and the she didn't have a video until May (which was that cheap "Be Good to Me" performance video).
Outside the US though...I don't think Ashley is that far ahead of Vanessa. If Vanessa would have had promotion outside the US then I think her album would have done better.

^True. But I think her album woulda broke at least 80 or 90K first week had they released the 'HSSS' video before the album came out. Instead of that cheap BGTM video.

Weird, because both of the videos premiered the same day on MTV. Her label sure took a long time before they sent it out. "Say OK" went to MTV shortly after its premiere on Disney Channel.

According to popular teen magazine 'Twist' the 1st single off of Vanessa's sophomore album will be "Whisper".
If you remember correctly "Whisper" was one of the tracks confirmed by Hollywood Records and was described as: "A sexy new style for Vanessa as she teases a guy over a rhythmic beat".
NOTE: This is still just a rumor, 'Twist' magazine is known for it's made up stories ... were still waiting for official confirmation on this.

1. They have finally chosen the first single & the video is set to be shot on the first or second week of April.
REMINDER: Vanessa's 1st single will premiere in early April on the Ryan Seacrest show and her album is dropping on June 24th, 2008.

Anyways I'm 50/50 about V's bangs. They look aiight on her and I wanted her to switch up her look a bit but I think she looks better without them.
And I really hope "Whisper" is her 1st single .. ever since I read the description awhile back I've been dying to hear it.
