Almost everyone here thinks that the video was tacky (even though they find it amusing on some parts) just so they can degrade Katy to the pits. If this was their fave's video then they'll probably think the other way.... lol!
Anyway, my friends (who're on their mid-20s), niece and nephews loved the video very much. I myself was shocked by there reaction because based on the trailer, I don't like it that much, but things were changed when I saw it in full. I think that only shows that Katy is general public's pop star now, since they are her major audience.
Despite some weird effects here and there, the video is visually impressive. It is tacky, yes, but I thought it would a lot more low-cost and ridiculous. I was entertained and that's what matters. Better than Roar definitely.
It is obvious why Katy is the most popular of the girls right now. Her music is absolutely generic and very mild, crafted for the masses. Very gentle production, simple & straight-forward lyrics usually build up on clichés and american sayings, and super duper catchy melodies. That is certainly not a bad a thing. I really like her and most of the time I find her music and videos quite appealing.
I however love the stupid & childish Katy that knows how to make fun of herself and still through adult gags around.
