i like the first snippet a lot more. it's experimental and dark without sounding try hard.. very MGMT. she sounds like she has fun. like dance in the dark on drugs. i think the second is a bit more radio friendly/basic.

I think she tries to strike a good balance between innovative and radio friendly ..
after all, it was meant to be a single
I don't like many of her songs aside from these 3: dance in the dark & alejandro and bad romance.
but yeah I think that first snippet has everything. it's artistic, gay friendly (in a good way) and it's catchy. the vocals are a bit psychedelic (hence the "on drugs" description).. i think europe's gonna love it. plus it kinda sounds like she's taking the piss as well, if that makes sense.. it just works.
God I love this! The singles this era are already a mess. This would have been a nice single, I suppose, after DWUW...which should have been the lead. Sigh!
Radio are so NOT going to play this when will you stop?
I love it and - knowing my taste - it will end to be my fave off ARTPOP, but it's not single material.
Plus, Gypsy will be the 3rd single, so deal with it.
I think she could have made this happen back in 2009 when she was interesting. I mean you couldn't have told me PF was going to go #1. But Gaga had a normal lead single, yet she was mystifying. The moral of the story is, Applause shouldn't have been ze lead single
