Wonder if Makoto Shinkai's Your Name has chances to get an Oscar nom in animated feature.
Japan really hypes it up, not to mention its amazing box office numbers. IIRC it's the best grossing movie in Japan this year, the first non-Miyazaki anime movie to gross 10 billion yen in japanese box office. It has a few more achievements that I don't remember, nnn. It's short-listed for Oscars tho.
Metacritic has it on 82 with 4 reviews, while no consensus on RT yet but 100% fresh reviews. It will be released worldwide in 2017.
I don't hope it wins (and I havent seen yet

) but I kind of want Academy to recognize non-Miyazaki anime for once. Though Miyazaki's anime movies are the only ones I've considered as Oscar-worthy.
