This, I don't see the need to not use XYZ and Synchros? why don't ban Fusions and Rituals as well.
And don't even say it's because they're overpowered or whatever, because I've beaten decks full of Synchros and XYZ with Ritual monsters and even with an Ojama deck.

It's meant to resemble the Duelist Kindgom Arc of the original series. XYZ and Synchro's weren't released at that time. Also, we didn't want to make it too complicated for the first tournament, we just wanted to see how it would go. In the future if we do more tournaments we can use XYZ and Synchro's then .
