It's once again Fashion Week here in NYC, and we couldn't think of a better person to start it with than Selena Gomez! She's the face of adidas NEO and, along with 30 teen bloggers from around the globe, has helped create the brand's A/W 2013 fashion show. We dropped by the stage beforehand to chat with Selena about her personal style, favorite pieces from the collection, and her most embarrassing moment on the set of Spring Breakers!
Seventeen: Tell us a little more about your involvement with NEO! What's coming up in the future, and what do we have to look forward to for the show tonight?
Selena Gomez: The spring/summer line was me getting to know what I wanted to display! Now, I go in with the designers and I display images that I love and think would be really fun to add to the line. We kind of come together for a big pow-wow to talk about themes, colors and fabric, and then I get to see them all together! I got to wear all the clothes you're going to see tonight and to do a shoot with them. All my fans will get to see how I would wear the collection!
17: How does the adidas NEO label reflect your own personal style?
SG: I think it's such a great partnership because they definitely represent what I try to represent, which is individuality and being able to express yourself through fashion. It's always been something that I try to let my fans know: fashion is supposed to be fun! It's supposed to be about how you want to express what you're going through at that time or how you're inspired by movies and music.
17: If adidas NEO only let you pick one piece to keep for yourself, which would it be?
SG: It would be my yellow knit cardigan. I think it's actually in my Twitter picture! It's just so cozy, comfortable and you can wear it with anything. And it's good for me because I need more color in my life! I usually keep things neutral, so it's the perfect pop of color to any outfit.
17: To switch gears a little bit, what was the best part of being on the set of Spring Breakers?
SG: I think the overall experience. As an actress and just as a person, I've kind of been in a little bit of a bubble. So it was so great for me to see where I could go as an actress and to be around incredible people who are much more experienced than I am, like Harmony [Korine], James [Franco], and Vanessa [Hudgens]. I definitely would not take it back for the world. It was so incredible.
17: Do you have any funny or embarrassing moments from set?
SG: There was a scene where I had to dance with a bunch of college guys and they chose real spring breakers to come on set and dance. I was terribly nervous! I was like, I feel like I should at least have one of the girls with me. And Harmony laughed and was like, "You're so cute. Of course, you can have Rachel dance with you!" I remember thinking, "I want to dance with a girl and then maybe I'll dance with a guy." I know that it was just a movie and it was nothing, but I was so nervous just for that. It was a little random, because I did a lot of other crazier things in the movie!
