Selena Gomez: It Helps Being Friends with Taylor Swift and Vanessa Hudgens

The starlet, 20, counts Taylor Swift, 23, and Vanessa Hudgens, 24, among her inner circle, and she has plenty of compliments for their support along the way.
"It’s helped having Taylor and Vanessa both be older than me," she told PEOPLE at her New York City acoustic concert benefit for UNICEF, the children's rights organization for which she is a goodwill ambassador. "They’ve kind of experienced a little bit more, and at the same time we’re experiencing the exact same things together."
Her pals are just a call away, and "it's nice just to be able to pick up the phone and be like, 'Ugh, I had this person say this and it's annoying,' and have someone understand and really get what you're going through," adds Justin Bieber's on-again, off-again girlfriend. "I think that's [our] main connection. I just enjoy having people in the business in my life because it helps."
She recently worked with Hudgens on Spring Breakers, a comedy following four college gals that arrives in theaters in March. “I feel like I want to be her," Gomez says of her costar. "She’s been such an incredible person, and she’s fantastic in [Spring Breakers]. "She’s a really good friend.”
“I met [Swift] when she was 18. This is before [Swift's 2008 album] Fearless came out, and it was absolutely incredible to see someone so successful and so humble," she says. "I think she has been a big part of me kind of staying the way I am too."

The two actress/singers were joined at the UNICEF benefit by Elle Winter, Noah Guthrie and Nat and Alex Wolff.
“Thank You to all who came out to support @unicefusa last night, could not have been a bigger success. I love you all. See you soon NY,” Selena tweeted.

Selena Gomez: I’ve Warned Parents and Young Fans About R-Rated ‘Spring Breakers’
The former Disney princess also dishes on her upcoming album.

If the brand-new trailer was any indication, Spring Breakers is going to be one raunchy movie.
Which is why star Selena Gomez is already warning people about its R-rated content.
“Iʼve done my best to warn the parents and my younger fans,” the former Disney princess told Celebuzz Saturday night at a benefit concert for UNICEF in New York. “Iʼll be 21 this year so for me itʼs been kind of refreshing and nice to step out of my comfort zone and do things that I didnʼt think I could do as an actress.”
“Itʼs been really fun for me,” Gomez, who in the movie plays a college student who robs a restaurant to fund her vacation, continued. “I do my clothing line and everything else for my fans. But 18 and older [fans], go see Spring Breakers!”
2013 should be quite the year for Gomez. Not only is she starring in Spring Breakers, she’s also busy recording her next album, which she says fans will be surprised by.
“I havenʼt really said anything about my album to anyone,” she admitted. “Iʼve recorded over 18 songs already and I still have a month and a half of recording left!”
“Iʼve never recorded this much in my life!” She continued. “Iʼm excited to do things that I feel people are going to be a little taken aback by and surprised with.”
Gomez went on to describe singing as “therapeutic.”
“When youʼre done, you feel so good. It releases everything and thatʼs been good for me.”
Taylor Swift + Skrillex = Selena Gomez's Next Album
Gomez says her BFF and the 'Spring Breakers' composer have influenced upcoming project.
Selena Gomez took a page out of best friend Taylor Swift's songbook Saturday night at a UNICEF benefit concert by performing her hit "I Knew You Were Trouble" in front of the intimate crowd.
And Swift's inspiration doesn't stop there: MTV News caught up with Gomez before her performance, and she revealed that Taylor has influenced her upcoming "tell-all" album.
"Taylor inspires me — not even in music, just in everything that she does," Gomez said. "She's such an incredible person."
In addition to her BFF, Gomez is also getting ideas from a genre of music she's new to: EDM.
"Skrillex was a big inspiration because he did the score of 'Spring Breakers,' so being a part of that and meeting him and watching 'Spring Breakers' a thousand times through festivals and stuff, you kinda get hooked on it," said Gomez, who promised to share her "side of the stories" on the upcoming album. "So I was like, 'I should kind of add a little bit of that in there.' "
Unfortunately, Gomez — who is releasing her first single in March — and Skrillex didn't have time to collaborate on her album because "he was doing his own thing." Skrillex composed original songs for Gomez's flick "Spring Breakers" and hinted on Twitter that his upcoming work is a "very different style of production."
