She was raised to believe that if she worked hard and had enough persistence she would reach her goals but didn't get or internalize that it doesn't happen everywhere for women or what it has taken so that she was able to be brought up with those beliefs. It may partly be due to not really understanding what being a feminist means which seems to be the case from her comments and needing to be educated on the subject to see the issue on a worldwide scale. I hope someone close to her gives her a book on the subject or that she gets the opportunity to work with an organization that helps women worldwide to help her make some connections to deepen her perspective.

.It is not the first time this question has been asked of her and the backlash she has received from feminists in the past you would think someone on her team would give her a book on the subject. The questions are not going to get easier as she gets older and she will need to be able to handle these type of questions especially if she gets challenged.

I agree 100%. I think if she understood the concept, she would identify as a feminist. At least, I'd like to think so. The New York Times and Billboard have both asked her about this subject before and she needs to put together a proper, considered answer.

She's basically saying that if women work hard, they have nothing to worry about which is clearly not true.
