Mrs. D WAS protecting CeCe and was allowing her to stay in her home as Red Coat. That entire situation was all I could think about when they showed her flashback last night.

Maybe that grave is supposed to represent the death of Charles as a male and his rebirth as the woman he always wanted to be. Maybe that's why she had mental issues, she wasn't allowed to express haself.
