I mean from a purely objective point of view, if you compare the material RedOne wrote for Gaga to material she tries to write herself the difference is very clear
Gaga is simply incapable of writing a good melody, hook, concept, or a relatable lyric
Just dance has the robotic spoken word bridge. Bad romance has all those growls. Born this way has extremely pro lgbt message. Applause has verses that make almost no sense. Nothing sets perfect illusion apart from another pop song, not saying its bad but it flopped because people dont care for gaga anymore
I agree, but PI has the screechy Dope'd vocals which is a bigger detriment than any of those 'obstacles' you mentioned for the other sings
Y'all said the same thing in 2013 about Applause, and yet it became her biggest radio hit.
So clearly, her name isn't the problem here. The song is noisy + her voice can be unbearable for some people. That's legit all.
This situation reminds me so much of Britney. Till the World Ends & I Wanna Go became her biggest radio hits and Work Bitch flopped afterwards.
Rihanna's pop ballad didn't have commercial appeal 6 months after she was brutalized by Chris Brown and everyone was waiting with bated breath to hear what she had to say about it? LOL

Also, I was doing the math when this thread was closed:
115 million singles = approx. $148,350,000 in revenue
18 million albums = approx. $179,820,000 Total: $328,170,000
95 million singles = approx. $122,550,000
30 million albums = approx. $299,700,000 Total: $422,250,000
Gaga wins!!!
RR is hardly a pop ballad... and yes bring up the incident. Because that has everything to do with a song's sound.
There is nothing commercial about Applause's Koons'd and gong'd verses.
The production and the chorus are super commercial, though. The beat was crafted for radio and the chorus is super catchy.
I wonder if all the OGH in here thought PI was going to be a hit when they first heard it, or if they're just saying that now that it's flopping like most people with common sense assumed it would?
Never liked Just Dance. All of her lead singles are kinda bad but I guess BR (it sounds incredibly dated now tho, can't even listen to it) >>> Applause >> Just Dance >>>>>>> BTW >>>>>>>>>> PI

The song in itself is commercial. The beat, the way it was made. People couldn't care less about the lyrics, lets be honest; People would sing along anything if it's catchy.
The fame Gaga is kinda of forgotten. Nobody thinks of that Gaga when they think of Gaga. I'm kind of having a meltdown because that was the best version of Gaga.
