She really flipped Sex Dreams from an R&B song into a dancepop one. Not everyone is going to enjoy that change obviously, but clearly she wanted it to be more pop / radio playable. At that point in her head she was going to have a clean era with several radio hits instead of the MESS that was really approaching.

I think what I like about the original bridge is that it has that overheated fantasy quality to it. I feel like it makes the song feel different and less slick than the final version, though the final bridge is better in a technical way.
It's unfortunate if true that she intentionally made it more pop because radio was never going to give the song a chance anyway if that terrible censored version is anything to go by.
She was also finally able to sing it in its regular key towards the end of The Monster Ball, but she still didn't sound as good as when the key is lowered. (Let's just not even discuss the Paparazzi vocals during the Born This Way Ball.
