The ONLY reason new types were added was to fix the utterly disastrous overpowering of Psychic types in the first generation. No current type is anywhere near that level.

Well Dragon are only weak to Ice and since like more then half Dragon Pokemon are also type flying

It was just in Gen 1 since the only Ghost were Gengar's line, and it was part Poison, so Psychic still had an advantage.

I don't know why Steel was needed though.

Those were hardly even types in the first generation. Dragon's only attack was Dragon Rage, and Ghost only had Night Shade and Lick.

If you had a Psychic type like Alakazam, though, you won the game, as there were hardly any attacks that were super effective and not weak as hell, and pretty much no Pokemon that resisted their attacks. Hence, Dark and Steel types.

All Steel types are ugly anyway and I only use cute Pokes in my team

There is no need of a light type. I'm pretty sure that the creators have even commented on it saying that Fighting is essentially the light type. They said that dark type is fighting dirty or unfairly, whereas fighting is fair or justice.

Doesn't 'Dark' mean something like 'Evil' in Japanese anyway
