What are some songs that you thought would either win or do extremely well, and then completely flopped? (Cue Spanish members having to post every single Spanish entry )
2011 - Estonia
This is such a cluster**** of a year considering how underwhelming the winner was, and how many good entries there were. I thought Estonia was destined for an easy top 5, at the very least, but then the performance looked like something taken straight out of jESC, her singing was underwhelming, and they got a horrible draw in the final (the first half of death tbh).
2012 - Iceland
I kind of took a break from the ESC world during this NF/ESC season, so I was probably the last person who saw Sweden's win coming (I also didn't want to believe it after all the flops in the years prior). The minute I heard Iceland's entry (albeit the original Icelandic version), I got winner vibes. A solid, haunting pop ballad with ethnic touches - absolutely stunning. The English version took away some of the impact, and they weren't exactly the most convincing duet partners either, so their result was kind of deserved, but definitely a flop considering how well I (and, like, everyone else) thought they'd do.
2014 - UK
Y'all will remember my blind faith for this song last year lmao. It seriously had everything - a reasonably attractive singer with a solid voice, a very current sounding song in the same vein as the previous winners from Germany in 2010 and Denmark the year prior. But my God, that was a seriously underwhelming performance - no wonder it did so poorly.
