The biggest selling single by a female (I'm talking physical, real units here) in history. In fact, the second biggest selling single in history, after that tripe that Elton John released when Princess Diana was killed in an accident. This is Whitney's signature song, even if some of us have grown slightly weary of its overplay and the fact that every other reality show hopeful butchers it along with other hits from the soundtrack that proved Whitney was a megastar.
Not only does this song have the sales, it has the approval and love from Queen Dolly Parton, who has certainly made millions from a song that Arista did not expect to become such a huge hit (they thought the acappella intro wasn't gonna play well with radio programmers and fans). It was also nominated for every imaginable award, with Nippy taking many of them trophies home. NME, Rolling Stone, and other music magazines/outlets recognize it one the 50 best songs/singles in history. If there is a song that has had IMPACT this is it.
Connor commits serious blasphemy by saying that "Whitney's no Dolly, that's for certain." A million biblios. On the other hand, KasioKas recognizes it as a "certified Classic. I HAD TO give this my 11, it's illegal not to."
I wish you joy and happiness, but above all this I wish you love
