Just checked the Billboard chart, Rihanna's 1st and 2nd singles reached top 3, one of those is no.1 and one urban single reach top 20 effortlessly.
Gaga's last single couldn't manage to reach top 20 with huge promotion.

How did you know MTN's chart position? Does Billboard have an audio option for people who can't read? You must be exhausted from refreshing Bey and Gaga's Wikipedia pages for updates, but give it up. You're comparing Diamonds to MTN (which was a 5th single). I know you're mad that Gaga and Rihanna have the same number of #1 albums, despite Rihanna having over double the amount of releases Gaga does, but that's no reason to get saucy.
In all honesty, I have to agree - this would flop if it was released as the lead single.
Unless she's going for another pure r&b route(basically another 4 era, which I doubt), Grown Woman would be nothing BUT a urban single. For pop radio... Man Down 2.0
It's coming very soon though, and I'm not sure on iTunes. Sony are being very tightlipped about this release - but it is definitely going to radio as a full song.

Yeah I don't think it will be on iTunes tomorrow. But I can hope it gets released to radio or she puts it on Soundcloud, but I won't hold my breath. Hopefully it's very soon if not tomorrow.

Same thing was said bout Single Ladies, started at Urban then the video dropped, became pop crossover smash and was on top the Hot 100 for a month.
We shall soon see how this turns out.

GW doesn't sound nowhere near as urban as MD does though, at least judging from the snippet. GW seems to have some sort of poppy and light atmosphere surrounding it. It sounds like it could crossover.
