Well there is one way in which that math would be correct, if somehow the market had a cap of 6.9 million weekly sales, and any extra sales Adele gets beyond 2.9 would be cannibalizing sales that would go to others instead.
Though I do probably like correcting others' math here a little too much, which makes people complain that I'm 'hateful' and 'care about dumb stats no one else does.' I should at least do it more clinically/objectively...
