Dude, a huge Mariah fan did a reaction video to the "performance", and said, "Oh look, she's lip syncing again." She lip syncs because her voice isn't what it used to be. Get over it. Stop holding your fave on a pedastal and being oblivious to her flaws, as there are countless flaws.

She had a back up track in case something went wrong. And just physically sang over it. If the track had skipped, she would have had her actual live vocals still singing along.
Anyway, this has a lot to do with Mariah's ego. She really needs to find a way to sing the material that she can still properly sing. And keep a lockdown on the other stuff. That's not to take away from her legacy, but only to maintain realistic professional expectations of herself. I just saw her two weeks ago INDOORS at the Beacon Theatre and she lipped 70+% of the show. She didn't lip sync because of the cold just like she didn't need to stand there and refuse to perform just because there were sound difficulties.
