The Hot 100 and Hot R&B Charts had seperate 40 position Airplay and Sales Charts from 1985 forward. As for all of the separate genere airplay charts, outside of the '"Core" formats, most of them appeared after the Soundscan Era began. However, Billboard had a "Crossover" chart in the late 1980s very similar to the current Rhythmic chart.

EDIT: Billboard broke off Modern Rock from Mainstream Rock in the Fall of 1988.
