Exactly I think many songs on ITunes suffer from poor preview, those 30 secs are the commercial for the song. You need to convince. It's like a product on a shelf, the package needs to convince right away!
Less and less people listen to radio nowadays. In Europe for instance, most people take public transportation and fewer drive their cars which would be the place you would most likely to listen to radio.
And even in your car you want to pick the stuff you are gonna listen to, and not randomly fall on a disastrous song that will polute your ears for 3/4 minutes...
