So in "The Lucky One" she tells the story of a famous person who gave up fame for a normal life. Taylor later finds herself in the same position when she herself becomes famous in the bridge, and understands why that person wanted to live a quiet life. She assuredly sings to the protagonist Let me tell you//you're the lucky rather than asking her "Can you tell me now, you’re the lucky one, oh, oh, oh.". . I guess there is a part of Taylor where she dislikes all this fame, even if she doesn't show it. It is almost in the same vein as NGU, structure wise.

A rather brief analysis of the song.

An excerpt from my review; I'll post the full thing as a blog once it's finished...

Taylor's fourth album Red is, simply put, a brilliant album that quite easily takes the title of "Best Taylor Swift album." The album begins and ends with two of the best songs of Taylor's career (State of Grace and Begin Again, respectively), and at least 7 more contenders for "10 best Taylor Swift songs" can easily be found in the remaining 17 tracks.

Does anyone else picture a desert scene in their head when listening to "Treacherous"? Treacherous, Sad Beautiful Tragic, All Too Well, Starlight, Holy Ground and The Last Time seem to create a collage of retro, surreal and nostalgic images and makes me feel very depressed. However, the songs that create these imagery vividly are the first two songs on the list.

I can't wait to read it!

I don't find Starlight depressing; it's a celebration of timeless love, much like Mary's Song. Unlike Mary's Song, Starlight doesn't acknowledge that it's protagonists ever grow old, which I think gives it a more uplifting "we'll be young forever" kind of feeling.

Sad Beautiful Tragic makes me feel like I'm alone at a Spanish villa by the sea, and everything is dark red and purple.

I can understand the desert feeling for Treacherous.

That's a good take on that song.

I have noticed this kind of loneliness from her since Speak Now. It was just not as obvious as now. And from what I've learned ALL of her relationships ended not because of: 1) Dudes were douche, 2) The public exposure. Poor girl.

Anyway Sparks Fly and Treacherous are both special in their own way to me now.
