I was reading this forum and some of the members says that Phil Collins was surprised by the direction Adele was taking musically o_o.... Did anyone else get this from the interview? All he said was that he's workin with Adele and a little other stuff

21 trivia time. I noticed this awhile ago but did anyone else realize that most of her "unheard" songs on her BMI page (Reminded, Waiting For You, What Is Love, etc) are just names for the Rick Rubin produced tracks from 21?

Reminded - Someone Like You (version containing the orchestra)

Waiting For You - I'll Be Waiting

What Is Love - He Won't Go (this is the demo version since Paul requested she use the Rick Rubin version for the album)

Saviour, Haunted Skies, and Run Away are originals though they were from the early sessions and originally meant for the album until songs like DYR and Someone Like You came along.

I'm also pretty sure Haunted Skies or Saviour was re-written and turned into Turning Tables since she mentions haunted skies/being her own saviour in the song, but I'm just assuming that.

And Rolling in the Deep is spelled as Rollin' because that's how it was titled up until the minute. I remember her mentioning that.

Are you sure "Reminded" is the orchestra version of "Someone Like You"? As for the others, Ichinaru and I actually did research on that for my website, the Adele Wiki, and Ichinaru found some interesting Tweets that confirmed certain songs. "What Is Love" is the Paul Epworth version of "He Won't Go. Saviour" and "Haunted Skies" are not older versions of "Turning Tables", though. Both are original tracks (as confirmed by Paul Epworth via Twitter). "Saviour" was almost was released, and Adele strongly considered performing it on the 'Adele Live' tour. Paul said there's a good chance it will be on her next album. As for "Run Away", that could be a cut from 19, too, couldn't it? None of the writers on that track (other than Adele) were featured on 21, and on 19 there were a few writers that only did one song with her.

The only other recorded version of SLY was the one with the orchestra that she did with Rick Rubin so it has to be that one. They were all likely set to be registered and on the final album but I remember her saying towards the end she began preferring the demos and scrapped all of those sessions. And since they were likely different, they were all registered under different names.

Run Away was probably from the 19 era. The people who co-write that with had nothing to do with 21.

And I figured Saviour/Haunted Skies wasn't Turning Tables since Paul Epworth co-wrote both of those and Ryan Tedder co-wrote TT.

And I doubt Saviour will be on the next album. She's likely going in a much different direction. I think she planned on releasing another album following 21 much sooner but the unexpected success of 21 (and the fact she felt overexposed) put a hitch to that.

And "Reminded" was co-written by Dan Wilson too and in SLY she mentions the word "reminded".

Dan Wilson said in an interview that she called him months after they originally recorded SLY and asked for the demo, so likely the Rick Rubin one was always meant for the album until the last minute, hence why it still ended up getting registered.

Normally songs are only registered if they were planned for the album but were scrapped, or if the song is available for other artists to use down the line.

You do make some really good points about "Reminded" / "Someone Like You". I always just kind of assumed it was that weird Tyga song that sampled "Someone Like You". But I think you're right, Mike, that makes a lot more sense. I hope "Saviour" sees the light of day one day, though, even as a standalone single, the title itself sounds really intriguing, as does "Haunted Skies". Anyways... What if Adele releases her album on May 5, her birthday? It's on a Monday, and some artists are starting to release their albums on Mondays instead of Tuesdays now.

Even if we got the album next month, we probably still wouldn't hear about it until the last minute. It doubt she'll do a dragged out release with this album.

And that's the worst part because everything will probably be kept quiet up until the last minute. And god knows when that is.

And I really want to hear the orchestral version of SLY she recorded. It probably sounds incredible. I get why she didn't use it even though I hate the album version of the song. It's too fast and I don't like the high notes. It distracts from the flow of the song.
