I don't know if this is true but a good friend of mine who is a shawol once told me that Taeyeon was referred as trainee #1 and Jonghyun as trainee #2 because they were the best ones. So yeah, I think she was meant to be the leader since the beginning.
Eye also thought Taeyeon was always the leader, and that Tiff and Jessica just shoved their way to the front for no reason other than because they could.
i mean you're not wrong
however i always so Taeyeon in the beginning as like the 'secret weapon' who would do the high note and that was her purpose in the beginning i would rank them (not by preference )

Yeah, Jonghyun said that they would have weekly evaluations and he was always 2nd after Taeyeon, so he was happy when she debuted, cause then he could finally be 1st
whew @ this slayage
The Korean Tinashe better go AWF
this song is slowly becoming my favorite kpop song of all time, I just love everything about it.
and the fact that she looks like she enjoys performing it makes it so much better
I don't know what it is about Sooyoung that makes me drawn to her.
She has one line in Dancing Queen & it's my favorite part of the entire song, for no reason other than it being her voice.
Genie wasn't 2nd.
Into The New World, Kissing You, Girls' Generation, Gee etc. were all before it.
Taeyeon's always been the (only) leader also.
Every Sooyoung part is the best, especially in "Hoot"!
I thought Jessica was the leader at first. She kinda should have been since she was the first member of SNSD.
My first SNSD comeback was The Boys and Taeyeon was kinda useless during that era. But Jessica stole the show with the most lines, the visual position, native English for their U.S. promotions and amazing vocals.
Not when Taeyeon has her iconic E5 that she nearly never hits
