No honestly "young adults" don't want to buy anything that's too different. I mean really no one does but "young adults" especially since they're obsessed with being normal, fitting into some category, etc.
LGBT+ YA novels are so much better than the "straight white middle class" YA novels that get pumped out on the daily imo
I'm watching this teen drama TV show and there's a lot of bullying. I never was bullied except for once at Sunday school when I was like 10 (I remember my mom blaming me for not being able to stand for myself ) but yeah, I got so lucky, so many people have to deal with that

Agreed, I mean really for the most part I think any subculture of a book genre would be better than the mainstream only because it feels less forced to subscribe to what's marketable. It's more pronounced than with music (imo) even though mainstream music is also cold and calculated something about it can seem less like it's just trying to snatch money from your purse and satisfy everyone at the same time.

I was bullied from 6th grade until I graduated high school and there was never a reprieve from it in all those years
