Morgan has no appreciation for context. Eastman probably never had to defend his home against a pack of "Wolves." He probably only had to deal with the occasional "Morgan" lurking around his property, and since Eastman had considerable martial arts skills, he was probably always able to subdue and/or rehab dudes like Morgan. Eastman also lived alone. It's easy to be reckless with your own life, when you don't have to worry about the welfare of anyone else.
This never seemed to dawn on Morgan. He just assumed that he had everything under control without much regard for any possible risks to the rest of the community. Eastman had his epiphany after his family was murdered, but please believe that he would've killed to defend them, if necessary, and he certainly wouldn't have been trying to rehabilitate any "Wolves" in his basement with his wife and daughter upstairs.
