Yeah it's a Chinese group YG is forming in partnership with some Chinese company. I feel like it's just YG's way of getting rid of some of their extra trainees they weren't planning on debuting in Korea

They are copartners....YG is in charge of Korean promotions and YHE is in charge of chinese promotions however they are still part of YG as YG trained them for the past 4 years. The guys pic i posted was in the original WINNER lineup

I didn't realise YG did the same.

Is China going to be the new Japan for k-pop idols?

I mean, possibly, but there's not much of a music market in China, so I don't really see the point.

But since everyone is saying "Hallyu is dying" is Japan, I guess there's no point in these entertainment companies trying.

Yep, however unlike SM, YG is partnering up with the SM of China....which Kris of EXO and the guy who left Super Junior are signed too

I know sales are horrible over there but I wonder if touring is a massive moneymaker in China. There must be something desirable about the music market in China for SM and YG to start investing in it.

China is desirable mainly due to endorsement fees for their artists (lee minho is a great example), touring also is going up, Hong Kong also has a huge other sectors that for YG to break into such as his fashion thing he is trying to do and why Jessica is launching Blanc out of Hong Kong and not Seoul

Touring is definitely where the money lies in the market, but SM and even YG (I think?) already have the Chinese touring market bagged. And K-drama's. I don't think there's any harm in say f(x) or SNSD recording and releasing a Chinese mini and touring with it. Infact, since touring is where the money lies, SM sending f(x) out there could be their time to shine in terms of getting a solo tour finally.
