I don't have a big issue with Miley or the song. I actually like her. But I can also realize that she's being contrived for the sake of looking edgy and mature. Even with songs like "The Climb" and "Can't Be Tamed," she was still seen as the girl from Hannah Montana. She needed to draw from something to make her stand out more. And what do Pop (white) artists usually draw from when they need to seem mature and edgy? URBAN CULTURE! 
I'm sure she doesn't mean any harm, and she probably does genuinely like Urban culture, but so far it seems like all she can take from it is "twerking" and being "boutdat life." 
Jessie J drew from Urban culture and did it well. The fact that she grew up listening to "black music (

 )" helped a lot with it, so she came across as authentic. That's why it wasn't a big deal when she was announced in the line-up for Vh1 Divas (Soul Tribute).
