One of the things I remember the most about the earlier days is the constant "tell a lie until it becomes the truth". Lady Gaga was her "lie" and she lied until it became her truth.

I'm not here for "STEFANI" and I doubt that'll happen, but being more of who she is inside will only help her.

As her stage name? Why wouldn't she? Gaga was speaking at an event for her charity dedicated to having to love yourself and accept yourself the way you are. She was just saying how even someone like her with fame, wealth and slayage can have the same pitfalls like anxiety, depression, etc. as anyone and how she overcame it using Gaga.

Even in redefining her image with C2C, The Oscars and now on AHS, she is referred to by the name she's known the world over...

At the start of her career she also said this is just who she is, it's not an act, she IS Lady Gaga, she was very negative about people dropping the act/turning it down, so if the press catch onto that she'll get dragged. She specifically mentioned she was Lady Gaga, not Stefani, and the fact she's referring to herself as Stefani more and more is just backlash waiting to happen

No one other than stans remember her saying that. No one's going to care as long as the music's good. People loved it when she stripped away the Lady Gaga costumes so I doubt it'll be any different with a name.

P.S. She's not going to stop going by "Gaga".

If the media turns on her, it'll be for something they feel has mileage so they can get hits/sell papers.

How would they even translate Gaga's supposed identity crisis into headlines that the average person would understand and care about? They operate at a "Look, Gaga's fat now." level...I can't imagine "Gaga contradicts earlier self, says she is an alter-ego" working. If anything "Call me Stefani" would work in her favour.

In terms of a self-titled album, I feel it's cliche and expected now. Which is somewhat a shame because Beyonce didn't need her album to be self-titled as it wasn't a personal record. However, she is more likely to be creative with the concept of opening up and being more personal.

'Stripped' is probably the right kind of sentiment for her if that's what the album is.

I knew since day one that Lady Gaga was indeed an act. I have never in my life believed her that she and Stefani are one and the same. Her mannerism during 2009 - the mysterious cold platinum blonde pop diva, as well as her lyrics (the entire album The Fame discusses how she was a woman willing to do anything and everything to be famous) just proved to me that Lady Gaga was an act. Later on a time came in which she could express freely, so she let go of her acting.

Gaga is a metaphor for reinventing yourself, however how could you not separate her from Stefani? We've also known for a while that people she meets in person call her Stefani, that's why I didn't understand why in that Yale discussion the confused students immediately called her "Lady Gaga" without asking her first. It was strange to me as a person who is aware that Gaga isn't a name she goes by in person.
