For me, this is what I could see as a potential problem. But we don't really know what her hosting would be like, since she'e never really "hosted" something before.

I think it could be good or bad. But I'm open to it. I think it would show people a different side of her.

I don't think it'll be a disaster, in fact I think it has the potential to really jump-start this era (assuming, of course, that it is true).
Gaga's quite a charming person. It really shines through in interviews and whatnot. However, people who don't follow her career all that closely don't pick up on that. Hosting the VMAs would have a positive impact on the general public's perception of her.
The only thing I could see getting in the way of that is her doing something severely outlandish, such as hosting the show in [drag?].
Personally, I think that if she hosted and dressed the same way she's been dressing in LA lately (classy, elegant, NOT ugly), this could be a real game changer for the entire era.
