It's not her place & when she does is reeks of the tall tale of white people inserting themselves into other people's business and being the "savior" (Lady Gaga Born This Way teas). where's the criticism towards the misogyny and objectification done in rock videos or any other scene associated with white culture? white people would sooner come in and "correct" wrongs in black culture or muslim culture, etc before they even decide to think twice about looking at their own situation and dismantling it from the inside out.

The video makes me a little uneasy, but the first time I watched it I didn't take it as Lily criticizing black video culture or "accessorizing with black people" (as Miley did/does). It's hard for me to argue with you because I was honestly not in my social justice mindset when I watched it and I had my rosy "Lily is smart and does everything right" glasses on, but I understood the video to be sort of a feminist manifesto in general. Like, the dancers are in the video because she feels like they get the same treatment she does. "It's hard out here for a bitch." But on the other hand maybe she was trying to separate herself from them as the non-sexualized "bitch" who is above other women who use that imagery. Which would be bad.
